Astrology is based on the principle of "as above, so below."
Through astrology, we see how planetary cycles play out in our personal lives.
This helps us with the timing of love, work and living situations, among others.
In astrology, we start with your birth chart, or
horoscope, which is a picture of the sky for
the moment you were born. Your horoscope shows how your planetary energies relate to one another and where they play out in life.
For instance, most people know their Sun sign but not how their Sun interacts with the other planets in their chart, nor where the Sun plays out in their life (which is where you "find yourself").
Likewise, the birth chart shows how the Moon, Venus and all the other planets express themselves in your life. Your Rising Sign is another important part of your chart, showing your persona and body image.
To construct an accurate horoscope, we need the
date, place and time of your birth. If you don't
know the exact time you were born, we can
re-construct your birth chart through a process called Rectification.
In Rectification, we correspond the major events
of your life with planetary activity at those times.
In this way, we can estimate your Rising Sign and create
a subsequent horoscope.
The birth chart also shows general personality traits such introversion or extroversion and your natal potential for love, career, creativity, etc.
It also shows your karmic destiny and how you can express your highest good in life.
Once we understand the birth chart, we can see how the
the planetary cycles today are affecting your natal
points. These Planetary Transits explain
many of the changes and events that occur to us throughout life and help with the timing of love, career and other decisions. Likewise, Planetary Retrogrades affect us where they play out. So if Mercury is retrograde in your 3rd house, expect delays with computers and cars.
Solar and Lunar Eclipses are also helpful to know
about, as they indicate times of crisis and stress, especially when they aspect your birth chart. Since
eclipses occur every six months, it's important to keep on
top of them. People tend to stress out and lose
their cool during eclipse months! When are the next eclipses?
Planetary Progressions are a technique to track your psychological development. As time passes, we naturally evolve. We follow this in astrology by allowing a "year for a day" wherein your birth planets "progress" to where they would be each day after your birth for each year you are alive. So if you were born a
Leo, at some point in your first thirty years, you evolve into being an "honorary" Virgo expressing more of the qualities of that sign.
Likewise, if you are living far from your place of
birth, your birth planets will play out in different areas than if you sill lived in your place of birth. Your Relocated Chart shows how these changes occur, depending on where you
live. You can even plan to move somewhere that
brings out the best in you!
Every year on your birthday the Sun returns to where it was when you were born. This is
your Solar Return and it tells what is in store for the coming year. If you are thinking of moving, we can experiment to see
which location would gives you the best Solar Return.
Astrology can also be used to understand relationships.
Synastry is the interaction or "chemistry" between your planets
and someone else's. If your Sun is in the same place as someone else's Moon, you will feel a natural harmony with them.
On the other hand, if your Sun and their Moon are at stressful angles to each other, it is harder to spend time with them.
If you are in a relationship, you can also
look at the Composite Chart of you and your
partner. This chart combines your birth charts and is
the
chart of the two of you as a couple. The transits and progressions to your Composite Chart show what is in store for the relationship.
